On the site listed below, you can learn the basics of Original Medicare, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans.  Although the site is National in scope, you can find information pertaining to your county in Georgia.

Medicare is a health insurance program that is administered by the U.S. Government.  To be eligible for Medicare, one must be age 65 years or older and be a legal resident of the United States for at least 5 years. Medicare is also available to those under age 65 with a qualifying disability*.

For an in-depth explanation of Medicare, please visit the official Medicare web site at www.medicare.gov  The site is very informative with respect to eligibility and benefits.  We also recommend calling the Medicare Hotline at 1-800-633-4227 to order a free Medicare handbook.

Even with all the information available on the Web, it can still be very confusing to grasp all the options available to Medicare beneficiaries. Also, working with a local agent doesn’t cost you anything.  The premiums are exactly the same. Whether you purchase a plan directly from the carrier or through an agent, the premium (by state law) cannot be any different.
